When installed correctly, Wedge Washer provides a physical locking mechanism that maintains clamp load and joint tension, even under vibration and dynamic loading.

Friction-Based Solutions Fall Short

  • Single “lock” washers rely on friction and serrations. They vary between joints and cannot guarantee a locked connection.

  • Prevailing torque nuts grip the thread but loosen under vibration or dynamic loads, losing clamp force quickly.

How Wedge Washer Gets It Right

Wedge Washers are supplied as a pre-glued pair, installing as a single washer. The adhesive ensures correct orientation and ease of installation, with no technical function once fitted.

Each washer has a hardened, serrated outer face that bites into the bolt head, nut, and mating surfaces. The inner faces feature angled cams that interlock, with cam angles steeper than the thread pitch.

Once tightened, any loosening force must act through the cam faces. Under vibration or dynamic loading, this creates the wedge effect, increasing clamp load rather than reducing it.

The joint can only be released by deliberate untightening, forcing the cams over one another. No re-tightening is required, reducing maintenance and providing long-term confidence in the joint.
